Listing Description

The Institute for Rural Vitality at SUNY Cobleskill has a clear mission that encompasses a broad range of initiatives and activities: to engage the substantial resources of SUNY Cobleskill in collaboration with regional partners to enhance community and economic vitality in rural New York. SUNY Cobleskill, a rural institution of higher education, has provided education and training for over 110 years. The Institute for Rural Vitality (IRV) has a strong history of helping entrepreneurs since its inception over eight (8) years ago. It provides a wide range of support services and training for new, developing, and established local entrepreneurs throughout the Mohawk Valley and beyond.

Since the IRV began providing technical assistance to entrepreneurs, the IRV has provided services to over 700 farm and food businesses, producing over 70 new products, helping 22 beginning farmers enter food production, developing over 110 unique business and marketing plans, and maintaining or creating 35 jobs.
