Listing Description

NAFSN’s goal is to support a more diverse and well-informed workforce at the helm of the community food systems profession. NAFSN knows that these frontline, place-based, multidisciplinary practitioners require unique skills, science-based knowledge, access to resources, and trust-based networks. We want those strengthening their local and regional food systems to become better known, valued, prepared, connected, and engaged as they support their agricultural communities. Based in Ithaca, NY, NAFSN provides support to practitioners throughout the US.

NAFSN provides intensive technical assistance in three areas:

  • ACRE – is a comprehensive course in facilitation to help farmer-led groups collaborate more effectively through collective action business planning.
  • CARAT – helps communities assess how they currently utilize the assets of their local food system to achieve a substantial level of community resilience.
  • COM*FED – connects job seekers, including emerging professionals, to the wide range of complex, evolving roles in food/ag systems development.
