Listing Description

CitySeed’s mission is to engage the community in growing an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. One of CitySeed’s core programs is called Incubates; we reduce barriers to food entrepreneurship in New Haven by working to create economic opportunity for all, increase leadership by people-of-color and immigrant food entrepreneurs, and strengthen our local food system by linking rising food entrepreneurs and farmers.

CitySeed Incubates is designed to meet entrepreneurs where they are, overcome systemic barriers to entrepreneurship, and provide support through a variety of services. These include:

  • Shared-use commercial kitchen space available at below-market rent
  • 1 on 1 advising for support on licensing, permitting, insurance, business planning, menu development, and other topics
  • The Food Business Accelerator (FBA)- a 12-week program supporting early-stage food entrepreneurs run in partnership with Collab
  • Access to a network of fellow entrepreneurs and mentors, including participation in a mailing list to share resources, funding sources, and other opportunities
  • Webinars and workshops on Marketing and Branding, Business Planning, Financial
  • Opportunity to sell at CitySeed Farmers Markets
  • Promotion of CitySeed Incubates ventures to new audiences through pop-up events, farmers market showcases, and features on social media
