Listing Description

Real Food CT is a non-profit organization committed to building a more just and sustainable food system in Connecticut. We increase access to locally grown food for all residents, particularly those facing food insecurity, through a range of programs and initiatives. Our two “Giving Gardens” in Newtown serve as production sites for fresh, healthy produce, while our extensive gleaning and surplus management network ensures that surplus food from regional farms reaches those in need.

At the heart of our current efforts is the newly established Real Food Hub, a vital link connecting local farmers with institutional buyers such as schools, hospitals, and community organizations. Through this innovative platform, we facilitate market access for small and mid-sized farmers, enabling them to thrive while expanding the availability of nutritious, locally sourced food across the region. We also provide essential technical assistance to farmers, empowering them to navigate the complexities of the marketplace.
